Apple Healthkit is an app created by apple. “The new health app gives you an easy-to-read dashboard of your health and fitness data”. (1) Apple created this tool to help developers make health related or fitness related apps that work together and sync all the data into one. This is a great tool because it works with a lot of apps to track your health and fitness more accurately and without forcing you to use one specific app or another. Some of the apps that work and are fully integrated with Apple Healthkit are: “Centered, Up by Jawbone, Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker, WebMD, Lark and iHealth”. (2)
The Healthkit has the ability to track your walking progress and tells you how many miles you’ve walked, how many steps you made, and how many stories you climbed using stairs. You can track your food intakes of the day by logging in what you consume on a daily basis and can control your diet better. You can add and track body measurements such as body fat percentage, body mass index, height, weight, and lean body mass. You can also track your sleep and key vital signs such as blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate.
