Description

Clinical Information Systems (CIS) are also referred to as Clinical Informatics. CIS encompasses all systems that aim to improve and streamline clinics, hospitals, and private practices through technology. CIS includes electronic medical records, as well as, decision support systems. Systems such as these allow for the ability to share information between clinics and practices.

Applications

CIS is generally specific to clinics; however, Clinic Information Systems may also include private practices with more than one physician or within a network of physicians that may not necessarily share a practice.
