Description: Centricity®EMR is a software designed by General Electric that helps to transfer electronic medical records, medical imaging and other practice management tools. This software was introduced in 2003 and quickly became a leader in the medical software field. The software allows doctors to transfer data to other hospitals and help with collaborate data between different practices. Centricity allows ambulatory care physicians and clinical staff to document and share millions of patients records through a computer software helping to aid users in and out of the hospital. This system allows medical field professionals to streamline clinical work flow and quickly exchange clinical data with patients, information systems and providers in a secure fashion. GE's Centricity is growing everyday to further secure and expand their EMR and other medical records to help efficiency and cost in the medical field.

Health care providers will ultimately be able to create a single electronic record for a patients' entire medical experience--from the time of hospital admission to the last outpatient follow-up appointment. The entire clinical history of the patient will be accessible to clinicians everywhere during the care process, whether they are in the primary physician office or an operating room of a hospital.

Applications: This product produced by GE has a wide range of applications in the health care community. This easy-to-use technology has be proven to drastically lower paper costs in the office. Also, the Centricity software is very easy to integrate with other software such as Centricity Businessand Centricity business Advantage along with most health care information systems. Centricity allows for pre-visit information on a secure website or on paper forms that can be scanned into the medical record. They also have provided a very easy to use web site to store your personal data.

Centricity EMR and Centricity Physician Office - Practice Management are two products that were acquired by what was then GE Medical Systems in 2002[2] and 2003[3] respectively, and released future versions of both products under the Centricity name. Additional products were added to the Centricity brand, such as Centricity Perinatal, Centricity Perioperative.

Centricity Practice is an integrated clinical and financial management system. It is a combined system based on the original Millbrook Practice Manager[7] product, and Centricity EMR. It is one of the original two Centricity products. The current version is Centricity Physician Office 2006, launched in December 2006. Centricity PACS is an enterprise-wide image storage and retrieval system. The Centricity RIS-IC module was previously IDX Imagecast. Additional web-based capabilities are expected to be added following GE Healthcare's October 2007 acquisition of Dynamic Imaging.
