Cochrane Database

The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit organization, providing up-to-date information about the effects of health care. It aims to help people make well-informed decisions about health care by preparing, maintaining and promoting the accessibility of systematic reviews on the effects of healthcare interventions.

What is Cochrane Database?

The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision making. Cochrane Reviews represent the highest level of evidence on which to base clinical treatment decisions.

The Cochrane Library consists of seven databases and is used by a broad range of people interested in Evidence-Based Health Care, including consumers, clinicians, policy-makers, researchers, educators, students and others.

How it works?

A systematic review attempts to identify, appraise and synthesize all the empirical evidence that meets pre-specified eligibility criteria to answer a given research question. Researchers conducting systematic reviews use explicit methods aimed at minimizing bias, in order to produce more reliable findings that can be used to inform decision making.

Applications:

This database enables doctors to view the most current medical information with minimal searching which saves time and allows them to make more sound decisions.
