Great presentation! Overall, it seems as though the project and prototype were well thought out. The prototype was actually very well done (I really loved the picture of Dr. House!!)The idea is intelligent and creates a pretty good solution to a common problem that occurs in doctor's offices. The only complaint I have is that the presentation consisted of some members reading directly off the slides instead of using them as tools to aid their whole presentation. Again, this is just a minor complaint!

The group's physical presentation lacked motivation; I didn't feel engaged, or motivated to buy into their product. However, their slides were very thorough in that they provided ample information on their project so that there were no ambiguities remaining. The concept of the project's deliverable actually seems pretty cool, and has real-life applications. The website was very well built, and using WordPress was a good idea.
The website was great and well thought out.
the demp was really informational and really got a good understanding of what would be available to those that are interested in this concept.
Overall a solid presentation. When presenting, don't look at the screen as much but at the people you are presenting to.
The prototype looked very well put together, but it could definitely use some polish.
i really like their site. its like facebook for doctors and patients. but i feel like that could go wrong. and if a doctor has a lot of patients he would get an overload of emails. but i overall think its good.
1. Project Introduction/Description:
Our idea is to try and streamline the paperwork you have to fill out when you go to the doctor's office, and instead have it done electronically on a website. Each person can go to their insurance's website and fill out the normal forms (medical history, allergies, etc) that you have to fill out each time you go to a new doctor. The information will be stored on a universal database, where doctors can access the information and save both the patient and the administration time, as well as eliminate the need for so many paper records that lead to the 90,000+ deaths that occurred due to medical error.
3. Main Deliverable:
DOCEASY, a proposed web-based patient portal application that allows patients to register an account online with their personal information for cloud storage. This information can be used by a hospital registration staff to improve their level of service. Since it is a web application hosted on a web server it can be viewed from any computer connected to the Internet. This makes the costs to implement this relatively low. Required user registration and a industry-standard secure database will ensure the data remains safe. It also provides a way for doctors to communicate with their patients. They can conduct their routine activities and submit detailed reports to their patients to review online. This means patients can view easy to understand information about visits, medication, and other information that is helpful to them. The obfuscation of complicated medical terms can be eliminated, since only a medical professional should be required to understand that information.
4. What will the Main Deliverable do:
An emergency room admission process begins with a patient registering with the hospital administration staff. This is essential information the hospital requires so that they can bill for health care services. For-profit hospitals need to cover their losses and close accounts receivable. As one can tell, this is often the most frustrating experience of ending up in a hospital. When a person is in need of health care they are not in any condition to be drilled for trivial information. There are several documents with personal information that we submit all the time using the internet. Students that require financial aid can submit their FAFSA online, hassle free. It even provides the ease of filling it out for you if none of the information for the following year has changed.
In order to streamline the first step of a hospital visit, the DOCEASY project proposes that we implement a non-universal identification of patients. A universal identifier, like a Social Security Number, is unnecessary. People can go to different banks and get bank account numbers, and the same should be true for hospitals. They are competing, for-profit entities that have no need to be tied to federal level identification of people’s data. In essence, this non-universal identifier would be the DOCEASY account that a hospital or clinic could use to establish the first phase of communication even before being admitted.
Now we can visualize a scenario where a patient is entering an emergency room for the first time. The hospital will require his or her registration data as usual. However, this time the patient can provide them with his or her DOCEASY account identifier. If the hospital is equipped with Internet service they can pull the relevant information they need from the cloud and expedite process of transitioning the patient to the triage phase.
In order for the DOCEASY application to be a used by a large quantity of people it should be offered for free. The freedom to use the DOCEASY application does not mean it cannot become revenue producing and sustainable. A freemium business model would provide for an adequate plan. Premium content and services can be offered for a fee, while DOCEASY can provide basic free services that fulfill meaningful use to all physicians. An example of a premium service would be to tailor a DOCEASY portal to fit a hospital’s trademarked logos and remove all references to DOCEASY’s website. DOCEASY could also provide private server hosting and support for hospitals that are not equipped to host the platform on their own servers on-site. Amazon’s EC2 or Rackspace cloud services would be commercially viable for reselling world-class server space with the most stringent industry standards.
Therefore, DOCEASY is essentially a way to communicate online with a hospital’s administration staff and individual physicians by pushing relevant data to each other.
5. Competitors to your product/service:
It separates its services to consumers, physicians, hospitals, employers, and universities.
It provides a way to send information a physician before seeing them.
The basic free account doesn’t provide enough features to be useful
The information may not be relevant to a physician because patients may not have enough medical literacy
Provides a patient portal to hospitals that would like to implement a way to communicate with patients online.
Electronic Health Records and other patient information can be stored online and accessed by any physician in a practice.
The administration of the clinic is handled off-site and if there are issues there is nothing the hospital can do about it
Provides patients on their way to the emergency room a way to have their information sent to the hospital before they get there
An average wait time is displayed on the website/mobile app for incoming patients to know
It does not provide direct communication with any physicians
It does not store or process any EMR or EHR data
6. Reasons why your product/service beats your competitors or offers something different:
The way the DOCEASY application will be designed means there will be no central depository of information. DOCEASY is less of a container for all patient information, but rather a method for hospitals and doctors to push relevant information to their patients.

8. Proposed meeting times:
Proposed meeting times are every Friday afternoon from 4:30-6 as that is when our group’s availability is best. We have found that it has not been necessary to meet every Friday so far.

The resources we have available to us come from each of the six team members; Jason, Angelo, Lavhonte, Jordan, Greg, and Wayne. Between the six of us, we have access to the following skills:

Research ability on our product and product’s competitors
Professional and formal writing and editing ability
Time management proficiency
The main problem with our group is that none of us actually have any experience in the healthcare system. While we have many skills in regards to our IT abilities, we are lacking someone who has inside knowledge of the system and understands its problems from a firsthand experience.
To strengthen our product, we can use the resources available to us online to help understand the real problems of the industry, and in turn help us make sure our product addresses the problems as best it can.
10. Who will benefit and how:
Doctors, patients, and hospital staff all benefit from DOCEASY. Patients and doctors benefit from an application such as this because it allows them to maintain constant communication between one another. This constant communication keeps the doctor up to date about the status of their patients’ general health. As a result, the patient is able to obtain information concerning their health more quickly than they would if they were to wait to be serviced by the doctor. This saves the patient the time, money, and effort that it would require to commute to and from the hospital or their doctor’s office. The
hospital staff would also benefit from this application because it drastically reduces the amount of paperwork that it takes to admit a patient.
