Description

The Health Action Network, also called Health Alert Network (HAN), is a communications system that is used by the Center for Disease Control in order to exchange information about diseases with both state and local departments. The Health Action Network was designed to ensure that each community has quick access to important health information, trained and professional personnel, and tested procedures for effective health response and preparedness on a 24/7 basis. The CDC's HAN program collaborates with city, territorial, state, and the federal government to develop protocols intended to insure an interoperable program for the rapid distribution of emerging health information. The Health Action Network provides a messaging system that can directly and indirectly transmit health alerts, updates, and advisories to over one million people. You can subscribe to these messages by visiting www.emergency.cdc.gov/han/.

Application

If you correctly follow the steps to sign up for the HAN network you will receive an alert whenever new HANs are distributed. There is a HAN archive located on their main page that stores all previous delivered HANs. The most recent being Health Alert Network No.384 - Increases in Fentanyl Drug Confiscations and Fentanyl-related Overdose Fatalities.
