Health Alert Network (HAN)
Health Alert Network (HAN):
Health Alert Network commonly known as HAN is a strong national program, providing vital health information and the infrastructure to support the dissemination of that information at the state and local levels and beyond. If a health threat has been detected the HAN will link local health departments to one another and to other organizations critical for preparedness and response. Those who will be contacted of these threats are community first-responders, hospital and private laboratories, state health departments, CDC, and other federal agencies. The Health Alert Network will function as PHIN's Health Alert component. Collaborating with federal, state, city/county partners to develop protocols and stake holder relationships, which will ensure an interopeable platform for the exchange of public health information.
The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) leads the development of HAN, in partnership with National Association of Countyand City Health Officials (NACCHO), the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO),and many other health organizations.
