MISYS is a healthcare solutions company that was founded in 1979 as a computer systems supplier. MYSIS merged with another healthcare solution company by the name of Allscripts, Inc. in March 2008. Allscripts, Inc. is a company that provides hundreds of thousands of healthcare providers with resources to guide them through running a great practice. Now that the two companies have merged, it will
provide better service for all of the clinics, post-acute facilities, homecare agencies, and healthcare providers. MISYS now serves more than 150,000 physicians, 700 hospitals and nearly 7,000 post-acute and homecare organizations.
MISYS has a web-based application, Misys eScript, which provides a convenient and secure way to write electronic prescriptions using personal computers, PDAs, or any other Internet connected device. This application, developed by physicians for physicians, provides an easy way for physicians to legibly write prescriptions and securely be able to approve refills within seconds. This also allows the physician to check different drug interactions, allergy reactions, and patient eligibility. This application helps physicians and their offices save on average two to three hours a day which helps the office become more productive.
As of October 2009, Misys has entered an alliance with Intuit Inc., a business and financial management solution company. The idea behind this is to create a Quicken Health Bill Pay. This will become the first online service that is integrating with the Allscripts' practice management and revenue cycle management solutions. This system will simplify the explanation of the bill and allow them to pay online, which in turn will help get physicians paid quicker. This system will alert the patient when a payment is due and how the bill is calculated. On average, this system has shown to quicken the payment process by 18 days.
