: Psoriasis is a very common, noncontagious skin condition. Psoriasis is incurable and chronic skin condition. It affects people of all kinds, men and women of any race, from any age, children to senior citizens (Cole). The condition is caused by rapid skin cell death and regrowth. he medical cause for a psoriasis diagnosis isn’t fully known but it is considered to be caused by an immune system deficiency in T cells (Psoriasis, Mayo Clinic).
Symptoms of psoriasis include dry, red, cracked, itchy, thick skin, sometimes with flakey white scales. This is shown in Graphic B. Along with thickened and pitted nails as well as swollen joints. Symptoms can range from dandruff on the scalp to spots, scales and rash all over the body. Primarily in areas on the elbows, knees, scalp, neck, butt and armpits (Learn About Psoriasis).
Most treatments involve cream, lotions and soaps, to moisturize the skin and scalp. As well as light treatment and phototherapy to the affected areas to relieve patients and improve skin appearance. Some extreme cases might invoke prescription pills and shot to boost the immune system (
