Voice Assisted Care
Voice Assisted Care is essentially a voice-enabled records system designed for long-term care facilities. Caregivers wear headsets through which they can document and receive care instructions eliminating the need for paper records. For example, if a CNA needs to review a patient's Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) they only need to say "review care" and the ADL instructions will be amplified through the caregivers head set. CNAs can also use the headset to "page" other medical professionals eliminating the need for an "overhead" paging system. "End-of-shift" task such as updating charts can be eliminated because the information was entered into the voice assisted care system in real-time and is easily reviewable by the medical professional who is starting the next shift (Vocollect.com).
Voice Assisted Care can also increase the accuracy of medical documentation as the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) discovered when it employed the system at one of their senior communities and their Medicaid reimbursements increase due to more accurate documentation and billing. As of right now this system is being marketed towards long-term care facilities, however, it is not hard to imagine this system being implemented in any medical environment were patient records are involved (e.g. doctor's office or hospital).
